About Our Event

The Virtual Superhero FunRun/Walk is a fundraiser in support of Autism Connections Fredericton and Autism Awareness. This virtual event is unique as it allows for open access, from the freedom of your own home and community. Although the day of our event is scheduled for June 27th, 2020, you are not required to complete your run or walk on this day. With the virtual platform, you and your family may complete your run or walk in your neighbourhood, a public park, your yard or even a treadmill, this can be done whenever it is most convenient for you leading up to the day of the event!

To Register

To sign up for the Virtual Superhero FunRun/Walk, you will be required to fill out our online registration form (linked below) and pay your registration fee prior to doing your run or walk. In this form, choose whether you will be completing the run or walk along with your preferred method of payment. We will be accepting e-transfers and cheques. However, if these methods do not work for you, you can send us an email and we will help accordingly. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. By completing our registration form, your name will also be entered in various prize draws which will be taking place throughout the day of the event, June 27th. If you choose to participate in the run, we will follow up with you on how you can receive your medal after the event is complete (only runners will be receiving medals this year).

FAQs

How will it look on the day of the event?

On June 27th, 2020, we will be broadcasting throughout the day via Facebook Live through our Autism Connections Facebook page beginning at 9 am. During the day of the event, we will be doing random prize draws from the names gathered through the registration process - make sure you register early to ensure your name will be entered in the draws! Aside from that, we will be cheering you all on virtually and sharing any photos you send us wearing your favourite costumes or a photo of you completing the walk/run. Sharing photos with us will be an integral part of the day as it will be the only way we know you are participating!

Will there be a team-registration?

With the current Covid-19 restrictions, members of teams will be expected to follow proper social-distancing guidelines. That said, we will continue to encourage people to register and fundraise as a team if that’s what you wish to do! Our registration form will have a question asking if you are registering as a team, family or individual. Please simply list the team name along with team members so we can enter each person into our prize draws! As always, if you are fundraising on behalf of Autism Connections Fredericton, registration fees will be waived

How can I help ACF more?

As per usual, we encourage you to fundraise on behalf of Autism Connections Fredericton. Individuals, teams and families who fundraise beyond the registration prices, are NOT expected to pay an additional fee. Upon request, we will provide pledge sheets to make fundraising quick and easy. Although this year’s circumstances place certain limitations on what kind of fundraisers are possible, we encourage you to get creative! As an incentive, for every $100 raised your name will be automatically entered in a draw for a chance to win a grand prize of two round-trip tickets anywhere West-Jet flies!

How can I stay updated and involved?

We have created a hashtag specifically for the Virtual Superhero FunRun/Walk for Autism and the days leading up to the event. Please use our hashtag #ACFHeroHike and tag Autism Connections Fredericton on our social media accounts so we can see how you are participating and preparing for the big day! Although we wish we could see all of our Superheroes in person, we are so excited to see the photos and/or videos that are shared with us! Aside from our hashtag, we will be creating a Facebook event to keep everyone (virtually) together on the days leading up to and on the actual event day!
