We are reaching out to you now for help as we develop a fundraiser for this ❄️holiday season🎄. We plan to make and sell 600 reusable fabric bags at various locations in November and December. The standard wrapping paper, tissue paper, and regular gift bags are often used once before ending up in the landfill. This winter, ACF is hoping to lower the number of plastic gift bags being purchased and tossed, by creating fabric gift bags that will be used for decades to come!
We need volunteers to make fabric bags, donate fabric, and to man tables during the months of November and December. We are asking you to commit to making a certain number of bags, so that we can plan accordingly. We are also looking for people to donate old denim, holiday/winter/plain fabric, ribbons, and cord. Sewing materials and finished bags can be dropped off at ACF during work hours.
We plan on selling four different types of bags. Small bags will be smaller than 30cmx30cm (12”x12”), regular sized bags will be between 30cmx30cm and 0.75mx1.0m, ‘Santa Sacks’ will be larger than 0.75mx1.0m, and wine bags must be wine-bottle sized. We have included a suggested pattern for you to use.
Funds raised through the sale of the fabric bags will be used to support the many
resources Autism Connections Fredericton provides to the community such as:
Please let us know if you can volunteer during work-hours from Monday to Saturday in December. If you are able to make bags, respond with how many bags you will be able to make and what size before December. We are requesting that each sewer commit to making a minimum of 10 bags. We will have fabric and ribbons available to pick up at the centre if you are unable to purchase it on your own. We will also be hosting a few ‘sewing nights’ where you can join us at our location to make the fabric bags together, so keep your eyes open for that message!
